Palma T. Caracappa Obituary (1925

Palma T. (Cassano) Caracappa, 90 of Monroe Twp., NJ died Wednesday June 3rd at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, NJ. Born on Staten Island, Mrs. Caracappa lived in the South Beach section and then Jamesburg, NJ for 37 years before moving to the Rossmoor community in Monroe Twp. in 1999. She attended McKee High School on Staten Island. During World War II, Mrs. Caracappa worked in a Manhattan factory as a tester of mine detectors. After her marriage, she took on the responsibilities of a full-time homemaker and mother until 1971 when she opted to return to the work world. She was employed for the next two years as a decoder with RCA in Dayton, NJ followed by a 10 year association with A.S. Barnes Books and Co., a publishing company in Jamesburg where she worked in the accounts receivable department until her retirement in 1983. In her spare time, Mrs. Caracappa enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and playing cards with her grandsons. She also volunteered at the Monroe Village Assisted Living Facility, Monroe Twp. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. in 2013, her four sisters Theresa Ditizio, Mary Scirabba, Clara D'Elletto and Constance Crocitto and her two brothers Joseph and William Cassano. Surviving are two daughters Donna Scala and her husband Harry of Allentown, NJ and Pamela Olkowitz of Pt. Pleasant, NJ, her sister Jessie Mattia of Staten Island, her four grandsons Joshua, Jonathan, Robert and Joseph, her three sisters-in-law Marie Cassano, Josephine Ceciliani and Genevieve Caracappa and her brother-in-law Vincent Caracappa. Services will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, June 6th at the Lester Memorial Home 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg, NJ followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp., NJ. Burial will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick, NJ Visiting hours for family and friends will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 7:45-8:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
