Mary Kunnath, whom everybody fondly called Ammai, was born on June 23, 1936 in Vazhappally, Changanacherry, Kerala, India. She was the third child out of twelve children to late Thommachan and Thresiamma Punnassery. She was married to the late K.K Joseph, Kunnath in 1955, and God blessed them with six sons, fifteen grandchildren and to-date six great grandchildren.
Ammai was a firm Catholic believer and led a prayerful life, which served as a great example to her children and grandchildren. Ammai was known for her loving nature and was very charitable and compassionate to the less fortunate. In her prime age, she took upon herself the burden of caring for most of her grandchildren. Even in her old age, until she was hospitalized two days before her passing, she made it a point to attend the Holy Mass vitrually and never missed an opportunity to pray the rosary.
On November 7, 2025, after her evening prayer and dinner, her body started to show signs of having completed its mission in this world, and she had to be hospitalized until her passing on November 9, 2025. At the time of her passing, she was lovingly surrounded by her three sons residing in the U.S. and their families. She was conscious and feebly responding to the conversations and prayers of those around her until she passed peacefully to the eternal kingdom to be with the Lord.”
As a family, we thank the Lord for giving us such a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We are at peace knowing that Ammai is in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Ammai will forever be remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
