Jamesburg, New Jersey
Irene (Petras) Resnick, passed away peacefully at home, leaving behind a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories with her family and friends.
Born and raised in Raritan, New Jersey, Irene was the daughter of Michael Petras and Irene (Studna) Petras. She attended St. Joseph’s elementary school in Raritan and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, where she received her education and formed lifelong values rooted in faith and family.
On February 27, 1960, Irene married the love of her life, Albert Resnick. Together they built a beautiful life, first making their home in Edison, New Jersey, where they lived for ten years before moving to Jamesburg. There they purchased their first home and spent the next 56 years creating countless memories, welcoming family and friends, and enjoying the community they proudly called home.
A devoted Roman Catholic, Irene lived her life guided by faith, kindness, and compassion. She was a dedicated employee of Johnson & Johnson’s Chicopee Division in New Brunswick, where she faithfully worked for 44 years before retiring on January 1, 1992. Her strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Irene found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved visiting Atlantic City playing craps, poker, roulette and the slot machines, spending relaxing vacations along the Jersey Shore in Belmar, and escaping out of the cold to sunny Florida. Most of all, she treasured the time she spent with her family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Albert Resnick, her sisters, Gertrude Koles and Frances Mishak. She was also a caring aunt to Francis Mishak Jr. his wife Brenda and their four children, Jaclyn, Francis Jr., Tessa Rose and Steven. Many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nephew, Robert Mishak and niece, AnnMarie Gill.
Irene will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her generous heart, her quiet strength, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. She had an unfiltered way of speaking—always honest, always genuine, and never one to hold back what was on her mind. Whether it made people laugh, kept them on their toes, or offered exactly the truth they needed to hear, that candor was simply part of who she was and one of the many reasons she was so unforgettable. Her love, kindness, wit, and spirited personality will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
A funeral mass will be held in her honor on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:00amEDT at St. James The Less, located at 36 Lincoln Avenue, Jamesburg, New Jersey, 08831.
