Diane Mitchell

Jamesburg- Diane Patricia Mitchell, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday January 6, 2026. She was 80 years old.

Born in Neptune Township, NJ, on March 17, 1945. She was proud of being half Irish born on St. Patrick's Day. Diane was a lady who loved to be the life of the party, and she made sure everyone had a good time. Diane was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked over 20 years as a clerk and retired from the United States Postal Service in East Brunswick.

Diane grew up in Jamesburg and graduated Jamesburg High School. She married and raised her three sons in Monroe Township, then lived in Englishtown most of her later adult life. In her heart though she was always a girl from Jamesburg, NJ, where she was a dedicated member of the Jamesburg Elk's Lodge #2180 and the Jamesburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and baking especially when it was for others. Diane was someone who passionately believed in community service, being patriotic and supporting Veterans. She was well known at the Elks for baking cakes every Thursday for the Veteran's Luncheon's held there well into her 70's. Diane was a strong woman who faced the challenges of life head-on with a smile, inspiring many with her unwavering spirit. Most of all she was a mother through and through, giving her all raising her three sons to be well mannered, productive men. She believed strongly in the love of family, home, and friends.

Diane is survived by her three sons; Robert Mitchell of Parlin; Richard and his fiancé, Linda Falco of Old Bridge; Carl Mitchell and wife, Lisa of Whiting; stepdaughter, Margaret Rigby of Riverside, California; her grandchildren Zachary Mitchell and his wife, Kayla; Shannon Mitchell, Elizabeth Mitchell, Michelle Forcina, Crystal Rigby, Jeffrey Rigby and eight great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, Warren and Laura Holmes of Jamesburg; daughter-in-law, Lois Mitchell; son-in-law, Jeff Rigby. Her joyous life will be commemorated at the Lester Memorial Home, 16 West Church Street, Jamesburg, New Jersey, 08831.

The visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 4:00pm EST, followed by the funeral service on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:30am EST. Diane’s final resting place will be at the Washington Monumental Cemetery, Hillside Avenue and Willett Avenue, South River, New Jersey, 08882, where interment will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 12:30 pm EST.
