David Richard Garbrandt, affectionately known as "Pop Pop" to those who cherished him most, was a man of strength, resilience, and boundless love for his family. Born on July 1, 1956, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the embodiment of a steadfast patriarch, who led by example, and lived his life with a relentless passion for the things he loved.
David was a longshoreman by trade, dedicating 44 years of his life to the piers of New Jersey as a mechanic. He was not just a man who worked on the waterfront, but a man who found camaraderie, purpose, and joy in his work. His dedication was not limited to his profession. David had a profound love for the great outdoors, his hobbies included fishing, tending to his meticulously cared for garden, pampering his beloved cars, and soaking in the serenity of the beach. Yet, what mattered most to David was his family, especially his four grandchildren - Dylan, Connor, Madelyn, and Briana. Their "Pop Pop" was a figure of unwavering support and boundless love, who left an indelible mark on their lives.
David is survived by his loving wife, Linda Garbrandt; his devoted sons and their wives, Brian (Jennifer) Garbrandt, and Michael (Kimberly) Garbrandt; his caring mother, Patricia Garbrandt; and his cherished Aunt and Uncle, Barbara (Dexter) Morse. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Garbrandt. David was a beacon of love and strength, who touched the hearts of many and will be profoundly missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love him.
